About the work
Ecophonic Atelier is an audiovisual atelier on tour. In August 2024, Maurice Cazzolli and musician Simon Kantner travelled through Iceland with a mobile setup, performing in the landscape and producing four audiovisual works from drone scans, video and sound recorded on site. Alongside Hekla, the works Brúarárfoss, Kerið and Dyrhólaey explore the capturing of landscape and its transformation into audio-reactive form.
I.
Hekla
The Hekla volcano was visible from the first base in Fellsskot and set the tone at the beginning of the project. The force it radiated accompanied the entire journey, so this track gives an overview of the whole trip and carries its name.
II.
Brúarárfoss
The work captures the feeling this river evokes, in sound and image. A static point cloud, created from a drone 3D scan, is brought back to life through audio-reactive manipulation in TouchDesigner.
